Ik ben begonnen met het coachen van zwangeren in 1987. Als doula gebruik ik diverse technieken om onze natuurlijke pijnstilling aan te spreken. Mijn doel is om het vertrouwen terug te krijgen in de intelligentie van ons eigen lichaam.

Door ontspanning help je namelijk je eigen oxitocinen en endorfinen aan te spreken. Adrenaline daarintegen heb je wel een beetje van nodig, maar als je teveel angst laat domineren gaat dit ten kosten van je oxitocinen en endorfinen en vertraagt de ontsluiting.

Begeleiding over de fysiologie en neurologie van baringweeen kan zeer helpvol zijn om het baringsproces te begrijpen. Geboorte kan een zeer krachtige postieve ervaring zijn voor vrouwen een key life experience.

De media heeft het baringproces in een negatief licht gebracht en veel angst bij vrouwen opgeroepen. We geloven niet meer dat wij zelf kunnen baren. Het is mijn doel om vrouwen te informeren met alternatieve informatie zodat vrouwen zelf verantwoordelijke keuzes kunnen maken.

I began coaching women in 1987 during their pregnacy. As a doula I incorperate diverse techniques as a means of (awakening) our natural hormonal resources. My aim is to encourage contact (trust their body('s) intelligenge) and help release oxitocin en endorphins and to reduce adrenaline (fear) to achieve a natural birth. Guidance about the fysiology and neurology of labour pain can be very helpfull for understanding birthing.

Through this, labour while stil work, can also become a positive empowering experience.

Contemporary media has had a negative influence (impact) on our understanding of (the proces of birth) birthing.

My years as a filmmaker have enhanced my understanding how public information is directed and manipulated. It is my goal, therefore, to inform women and provide a forum to access alternative information. This can lead to (a) greater awareness and allow women to make responsible choices.
